Abstract:
Abstract- Urban Heat Island (UHI) is an emerging issue in Indian metropolitan cities including Jaipur especially in arid and semi-arid region. Rapid urban growth, decrease in green cover, and predominant of impervious surfaces have largely contributed to the increase in urban temperatures. This article evaluates the role of local land use, surface property, vegetation spatial pattern, and time of year in determining UHI magnitude for Jaipur. It then considers the impacts of UHI on public health, urban livability and spotlights crucial UHI problem areas using a geospatial analysis. The paper highlights the necessity of introducing sustainable urban planning, green infrastructure, and climate-informed policies to address UHI effects and enhance heat resilience within heat-stressed Indian cities.
